I'm worse off than you are. I have only 7 events booked so far this year.

Hey Bryan...don't feel like the "lone DJ". I have only two booked for this year. However, I am new to the area and just getting my feet wet in the sands of NC. You and I should get together some time in the near future, before our Saturdays are taken up with gigs...don't we wish! LOL Anyway, I'm still contemplating the digital move and I am certain it will be with OTSDJ.

Jim...what's happening in Maine. Fuel costs diverting the "out-of-towners"?

WowBryan...that shocks me...wonder what is in the water down there...

Art...Dave Dionne is dominating our market.

He is close to 60 bookings at about $900-1200 with the Modern Bride Top 150 Djs thing and he is advertising everywhere.

He is quite hungry for sure.

I'm not sure quite what is going on. I suddenyl have five pending which is a good sign. Here's to hoping the checks roll in soon

Mike, Hi this is Kevin Casey in Ga. I know what your sayin' this has been my worst Feb. in years not one single Sweetheart Dance not a Wedding it's been extremely slow! I always have had those two gigs that would help me get a good start into the first qtr. Not in 2006. 2005 was a really good yr. even updated my gear. I don't have any answer to your question, just thought I'd let you know your not alone!

Good Luck May you get more bookings!

Greets, Jim.

So far, '06 is not shaping up to be a good year. We have a few tentatives but I'm not betting the farm on 'em.

The cheap services are busy but we're not. At least the phone has started to ring again (and website inquiries are improving) but they don't often pan out. These local yokels are so tight with a dollar their shoes squeak. It's the Mal-Mart mentality... they want a professional DJ service but they're gonna book the cheapest DJ they can find.

That ain't us. In my 47 years of living I've never put in a night's work just to have a bone tossed my way. I'm not about to start now.

Sad thing is, there are professional DJ companies here who have been in the biz for 20+ years and they're barely scraping by.

People don't care about quality anymore. Nor do they plan and save for something good. Nowadays, if there's a dollar left in one's pocket it has to be pissed away on some trinket or other.

The local situation is understandable to a point. The better-paying jobs are gone and people are more concerned with covering their living expenses. There's little money left to save. Why save a dollar today when it's only going to be worth 75 cents tomorrow? And let's face it -- for the cost of a pro DJ service, the B&G can take a weeklong cruise in the Bahamas. It's no longer a matter of having both. Now it's a choice between the two.

Last night's show was the Bachelor Auction. We received several "who's the DJ" inquiries and the sponsor, Curves for Women is distributing our business cards around town. Right now that's about all we have in our favor.

Well here in CT i'm doing ok, I have 14 events booked so far. My Aug & June weekends booked for Weddings. But I hear less people get married in my state. Something I read online on MSN.

I have 33 jobs booked for 2006 so far. But, I also lowered my price from $750 to $500 for this year to assure I'd get those jobs while I took a year off from my full-time employment.

Donny,

Does lowering of your fee reflect in any way degredation of service? I've relocated to "The Carolinas" and find that New England fees are really high for this area. I, too, have lowered my fee to compensate for some kind of revenue stream. Unfortunately, I am not yet in the local telephone directory. Once in the directory, I would expect the telephone to ring more often. For the moment Internet advertising with WeDJ, DJKJ, and my own website are the only sources on going. I've hit the street in a few locations but not much going down.
