I am pleasantly surprised to have two early bookings for 2006 (my first 2005 wasn't booked until October 2004)

I won't say the average because it would be awesome to maintain the average for the full year.

How is 2006 looking for you?

I'm still getting plenty of late 2005 leads too.

Are brides just procrastinating longer now?

I've got 2 booked for 2006. Leads are still coming in for 2005 (which I have to decline most).

A few additional leads have come in for 06, but nothing more booked yet...

22 for 2006, 1 for 2007. Statistically (numbers of events only), running behind. Financially (targeted gradual rate increases), on parr.

2005 last minute bookings are way off. The double-edged sword at work again. "Don't bother calling him, he's probably already booked anyway." Three 2005 Saturday nights remian wide open and no callers for those dates to this point. Not good!

I've got 1 booked for 2006 (booked it early this year. And got 2 or 3 more leads for 2006. Seems more like they are booking further ahead like to 2007. Most couples already have their entertainment booked for 2006. I attended a bridal show early this year and the majority of people were looking for 2007. about 2 years ahead, though they won't actually book for another year.

Hey dk...
I see you are located in Connecticut...Have you ever attended any of the DJ Idea Sharing conferences?

The next one is in April 2006 and they are always FREE to attend!

No I haven't.. I have been wanting to attend conventions and conferences, but it's a matter of me getting time off from my full time job. I'm still in startup mode here. Been DJing since I was 18 (31 now), but just started my own company a year ago.

Perhaps it might be more important to consider the guaranteed income/cash flow currently on the books for 2006/2007 than the "gig count".

Gig count on its own is meaningless. Price per gig on its own is meaningless. How much earned and how many gigs PER YEAR? Now there's information that can be used as a business qualifier or yardstick.

10 for 2006.
1 for 2007.

I also have gotten 2 late for September 05, 5 late for October 05, 5 late for November 05, and the Christmas bookings have started to roll in at 5 so far for December.

This year seems to be the year for late bookings for me but it is all good in that my partners and I have stayed busy for most of the weekends. The only times I haven't been working were during the DJ expo when I took the weekend before off and the Saturday after off and on weekends I deliberately blocked for prospect meetings.

I also have one $2000 New Years Eve party on the retained list. I have a contract and their $500 retainer but they are now talking about cancelling. I'll take $500 to stay home on NYE.
