Default Vinyl to Digital Format

Attention all you digital djs! Need help in deciding how to go about transferring vinyl to digital format? What is the process called? Ultimate goal is to be able to make my own R and RW discs from this process.

What do I need in regard to software and hardware?
Whats the fastest way to get the source (vinyl) into the computer. What end result are we talking about, MP3 file? Is that the only end result? I want to be able to play these files on dj equipment and home stereo equipment.

What are the costs involved? Purchase price ranges?

Oh yes! I want to be able to remove the clicks and pops we so often encounter with new and old vinyl. I have a pro TASCAM 2000 but need faster way to make R and RW discs.

Billy,

Thank you. I will certainly check this reference.

However, I will be converting thousands of 45's to digital. I may be retired by the time it's completed.

Enjoy!?! Sounds like time consumption ahead!

Try installing a program called sound forge 4.
Works nice with all effects and filters.
I use it on a regular basis.

Yes Art, it takes a long time. It took me over 6 months to convert my vinyl. Actually what I started to do in the middle of the whole feat was buy cd's for the ones that matched my vinyl.

Hey Doc Z, I believe matching is probably the way to go. I have thousands of min-condition vinyl 45's, reissue and original, from 1950's to 2002. Yep! I did say 2002.

Perhaps you may have encountered considerable feed back through your speakers from playing vinyl at a very high level? If so, what solution, if any, did you find to eleviate the problem.
Any advice you could give would be helpful.
