Default POP HIZZZZZSSSS

I got a Behringer feedback destroyer, and i haven't really seen/heard a difference in feedback yet

however, i am VERY unhappy with this:
everytime i power everything up (power conditionersfirst, then everything individually , usually) i get the LOUDEST POP out of my feedback destroyer. it is INSANEly loud. i know it has to be killing my speakers

now all i want to know is: considering my feedback hasn't really been eliminated yet, how can i at least get rid of the pop? it's awful!

the only way i've found around it is to alwasy leave the feedback destoryer on, and turn the power conditioner on and off while leaving the behringer on.

i coulnd't imagine how bad it would be if it were through HUGE sound system!

Sounds like you have something on with a gain or signal present when turning your system on. Remember that amp and mixer should both be turned all the way down before powering up. That feedback destroyer is designed mainly to eliminate microphone feedback (I believe) but you would not be the first to be very dissapointed with a Behringer product either. Be sure to let us know if you get this solved and HOW you did so.

well of course all the volumes on everythign are turned down all the way first....but my samson amp doesn't have volume controls-always all the way up.

i really want
1. for that thing to really just rid of all feeback
2. for the pop to leave!

i forgot the hiss part of this thread-
whenever the signal is going through the product, there is an awfully loud hiss also going through- i mean VERY loud, like for dinner music it is unacceptable pretty much

i have to play dinner music this friday...and i need help!

Don't blame your feedback destroyer then. That amp is likely 99.99% of your "pop" problem. You did not mention your mixer brand or features but I have found about 95% of these problems (pop and hiss) can be traced back to a mixer or amp; possibly both. You might try an experiment and go with balanced cables from your mixer to amp to "test" some of the theories expressed in another thread here but I seriously doubt it make any difference for you.

It is UNACCEPTABLE for a pro amp to be set at full gain all the time. When turning a system on (or even off) the amp gain should be set at minimum. This is to ensure your speakers do not get the damaging pop you are describing.

don't tell me that...i just bought that amp! lol!

well, i had used this amp plenty before, and i never had that problem- i tried bypassing it and all, i'm 99.9% sure it's the behringer- i dont know how it could be anything else
i have balanced from mixer to feedback, and from feeback to amp is unbalanced (never mind, switch that the other way) because the outputs on the feedback destroyer said balanced...and i nknew it couldn't hurt anything

First rule for sound systems is the amp is the last thing you turn on and the first thing you turn off.
Why doyou have the feedback destroyer on the whole system?
You need to put it in line with the mic only.
The way you have it set now when it filters mic feedback it filters your music too.
If you can, send the destroyer back and get the Shark it can be set mic in mic out level thus put in line between the mic and mixer.

KJDJ has a very good point, remove that Behringer all together and see what changes....

i don't quite understand

well first of all, let me say this: i can't return it.

okay, so you think i should go from my mic's 1/4" output, into the xlr input (but there is only one from my mic....and 2 inputs....) on the behringer, and out of that xlr into my mixer's mic input?

and for powering up, unless i turn NOTHING on, including power conditioners, there will be a pop. i must turn (in this order) behringer, power conditioners, then each piece of individual equipment

i dont like to turn my amp on first because different equipment will produce a pop. not a big one, but still a pop

the only thing i'v added, is the behringer, and the Hosa, balanced, rca to 1/4" cables frommixer to behringer

can i do what i said, and just use one channel, and go only through mic, not whole system?

No.

The feedback destroyer you have is line level-10 to +4 ins & outs. It won't work at -60db mic levels.
And another thing your Samson amp is looking for -10db in. the destroyer is a +4db device
The reason why it ain't feedback destroying is because your mixer isn't driving it hard enough.
Does your mixer have an effects loop? If so insert it there.
Since you Samson amp has no input attenuators your destroyer is slamming you amp.
I bet your main mixer fader never runs much over #2.
