Strangest Problem Ever...sort of

I did a wedding on Saturday on a boat that cruise Lake Winnipesauke in NH
As we got underway, the captain asks me to turn down my music for about 20 seconds so his tach would work.

Apparently the instruments were pulsating to the beat of the music...very weird.

I had a feed from my CD Mix 2 to his mixer which was near the instrumentation.

Any ideas?

From what I can figure, there may have been some audio frequencies or harmonics that were interfering with the ship's navigational instruments.

Where were your speakers placed?

Also it could have been the in-built power distro on the boat.

Pulling heavy current for the Bass could have been pulling the line voltage down enough to effect his read outs.

Oops, just to ellaborate on the Speaker point above.. I once shut a PC down several tmes due to the radiating magnetic flux from a Sub Woofer.. LOL, was funny.

I tested it out with something to make sure it was actually this doing it and sure enough, I could make a screw driver flick up to the sub if I gave it enough kick.

If your speakers were too close to the instrumentation then the magnets from the speakers would be making the instrumentation go crazy since most instruments work off of metal coils. Also, like Headline stated above, you could have been pulling heavily on your amp ( a lot power) and that could have made it fluxuate)

I had my two 12" FBT Maxx 4as about 6 feet from the instruments as I was located just outside the pilot house

Was that 6ft line of sight or 6ft direct distance (through walls etc).

Some walls won't stop the flux from affecting instruments.
