Have you ever switched DJ mixing software?

If you have moved from a software mixing tool to another please list the software you used to use and the software you now utilize.

If you are using an older version of your companies software what is preventing you from upgrading? Is it the price, your operating system needs upgraded, your using a bootleg copy or other reason?

Include a small description what caused the switch.

I no longer talk about the tools I use. I use and test many and with my position in regards to the 2005 Computer DJ Summit its the professional and fair position for myself.

I will comment the reason I've asked is for a seminar someone is considering.

Ok,
I'll play...
Started with Red 5. something...
Went to FX and gave up.

Went to OTS briefly, bought 2 licences, messed with tags in PCDJ recordcase which screwed with a gradual transition to OTS, just not comfortable so I sold the licences.

Back to 5.2, then to VDJ 9/03.

Dabbled with VRM but never gigged with it live.

Used Cavs for karaoke and then went to Sax n Dotty to PCKJ to S&D again.

Used Winamp for video, then Elite, and now VDJ.

I feel that the learning curves and data management keeps people committed to what they currently use providing it works for them.
Nobody wants to do it all over again, and the differences are pretty broad between some of them.

I went form the Digital 1200sl to RED 5.x

Still use RED 5.x it does what it says on the tin basically, and for weddings I have no need for anything else really.

Some more intelligent record case management would be good, but I have specific need in that department.

I can't remember the original programs I used. If that doesn't tell you something about them. I do remember trying MTU's hoster, Winamp, tricerasoft for karaoke. My first test was PCDJ RED 4. I liked it but it was limited in uses. So i tried FX 4 and loved it. I've continued to upgrade and am now on ver.7.x VRM and PCDJKJ. Don't think i'll ever change.

Started with Visio 1200SL. Then to Red up through 5.2. Tried VRM and FX only to find they don't work.(for me on 2 diff pc's)
Back to 5.2.
Dabbled with MegaSeg (apple), OTS, BPM and several others.
I'm open to any tool that will help my perormance but I won't jump in anymore, sight unseen as it were. I'll wait until "bugs" are worked out.
The software I use now doesn't do everything I'd like, but I can work around it and still give my clients the shows they hired me for. That's the bottom line anyway.
