Hi everyone
I want to purchase a Karaoke laptop and convert my CDG's to computer.
Has anyone used the MTU system. It looks like it would do the job. If you have other ideas please let me know

Hi George, welcome to DJ Source Online.

Sorry, I am not familiar with MTU... so my only reason for really jumping in here is to ask you a little bit about what you are planning to do with your system.

Will you be including all of your karaoke as well as regular music on the system?

How many songs are you planning on or need to store?

Is the karaoke laptop an off-the-shelf model (ie Gateway, Dell, etc.) or is it from DJ computer manufacturer / reseller?

DJ George 1: You're in good hands with Sir Wolfy in your corner. Allow me to up the ante just a bit.

Karaoke uses graphics and therefore having a fast processor and a highly rated graphics array (latency [or delay...a better term] issues with the video behind the sound), should be a consideration.

On recommendation of another DJ Source participant (I think it was Rick) a recent purchase was Tricerasoft's "Swift Elite-Video Hoster" which is supposed to convert and play almost everything. We'll see.

I'm with Wolfy (who is apparently suffering from some rare form of homophobia) having never heard of MTU either.

"Micro Technology Unlimited (MTU) is a fine product for Karaoke and when you decide which software tool you will incorporate build or purchase a system that will exceed the minimal requirements of the software.

Sir Wolfy: I could reply with something such as " Okay, now we both have something to look forward to", but that belongs on WIll & Grace and neigher you or I do. Thanks for playing along for a bit.

Do you know where I could begin shopping for a 16:9 ratio flat panel monitor that's used for advertising-like display? I want an LCD screen that's about 3' wide by 2' tall.

LOL, no problem Cap... I'm not above having some fun here and there too.

Off the top of my head, I'm drawing a blank, but I know some peeps, who know some peeps and I will put the "feelers" out to see if I can get you an answer...

You looking for a computer monitor that small or like a small advertising display panel?

OOOOOOOOHHHHHHHHHH! :nutz LOL, I thought you meant inches!

I was like, "Damn, that's pretty freakin' small!"

Try http://www.tigerdirect.com or http://www.newegg.com Either tends to have about the best prices that I've seen anywhere for computer electronics and monitors.
