You're right Andrew, I'd be more than happy to review one, but in all honesty, I would not want one to keep or use for Djing.
It simply does not suit my needs and I would hate DJing with it.
To use one would mean I need a separate Mixer, separate controller, add in all the cables required to link that together, then I'd want the Screen in front of me, but then I'd also like my mixer and controller in front of me, by the time all this is setup I'd have at least 3 items perched in front of me, which at say a wedding would look cluttered.
Forget the looks, the Spin, the specs, it's all down to practicality as to why I wouldn't use one.
To me it's just like using a laptop to DJ with.. I'm a great advocate of practicality over compactability.
As for the DAC-3, to be totally honest with you, I think it's 2 years out of date, and that should have been the DAC-2.
I see it more as a side step really than a step forward, add to that it's now 1U larger, so many DJs will have to rebuild their flight cases in order to integrate it.
Obviously without getting my hands on one to try out, I see a row of looping buttons, larger shift button, couple extra buttons (which should be programable) and also the lack of the outer jog wheel.
Maybe an ordered list of comparisons between the DAC-2 and the DAC-3 would be a good idea?
That way you can quickly see by the black dots in the features lists which unit has what etc..
One step forward though is the light up buttons, that is a good step in the right direction.
