In my month long research effort I wanted to see what hardware people use and why.

Thanks in advance!

A good foundation is the most important thing to build from.
If using a laptop, get as much processor speed and ram as you can get with it.
Spend the extra $150.00 on an OEM version of XP Pro and dedicate the system to music (keep it off the internet).

Find a program that integrates a controller.

Or build yourself or have someone build you a dedicated computer rack.

This can be a rackmount or a dedicated playback box.

Then you can fit what ever gear you want in there and also be able to upgrade it with ease.

Various ways of doing everything.. you just gotta decide on what you want to do and what image you want to offer.

Some DJs don't like using a laptop, others do.
Some clients see a Laptop and think, cheat, others don't.
