What's going on out there?

Hi my fellow DJs!

Are you people encountering the same thing I'm seeing? People calling for price quotes and you being told that you're too expensive? I know the rates are different all over the country, but I'll refer to my location as Upstate New York. Due to the economy, I've lowered my rates a little and I think I'm giving a good deal. I'm not going to give my services away. I've been doing this 20 years and am totally comfortable in my performance.

I recently had a wedding contact, told the person I'd hold the date and sent her a contract. After 3 weeks and no return of contract, I called her and she told me she had a better deal. If that's not classless, I don't know what is. I'm not gonna start a price war here! I don't know what kind of circus act she's gotten, but I know I gave her a good deal. She got a discount being a friend of my son's teacher.

Oh well, you may know what I'm talking about!
