Question What Equipment do i need?????

Hello everyone. I'm interested in DJ-ing. I'd like to use a laptop. I'm just looking at doing weddings, private parties, etc. , so i dont need any fancy music producing software. What my question is, is what exactly are the bare minimums i need to get started??? Other than the obvious, music, speakers, amp???? what are the adequate software, hardware, wiring requirements??? Also what would my PC need performance- wise to run such an operation??? Any help would be much appreciated!!

Cool

Welcome to DJSourceOnline.com leedub513!

Thanks for a great quesiton...as far as hardware, software and which is best I think it comes down to your personal preference.

I personally use a MacBook Pro and have had it for about 4 years now. I love it and will probably always use Macs for Djing. The software I use is called Megaseg and it has been a wonderful program. My personal favorite is how it treats videos like MP3s! Great program and I highly recomend.

So with that being said I would search through the archives and see what you can find as far as what other people are using. Most PCs (and i phrase that with the word MOST) will work. I have seen some people using desktops that are not powerful enough and using older versions of Winamp while DJing. (makes my skin crawl) So my main advice would be to INVEST in something as a business and then get real DJ software (not itunes, winamp or meida player) and then go from there.

These are my thoughts. Let me know what you think.

Peace, DJ Bill
