JimCasey : Why don;t we talk about that...how long have you been courting them and how did you seal the deal?
Bill_Hollick : But I didn't get the karaoke gig yet.
JimCasey : What kinds if dances will you be teaching?
Bill_Hollick : I was there last night and the whole thing was written out on a business card.
Bill_Hollick : All country partner dances.
Bill_Hollick : It's sort of my specialty.

Bill_Hollick : In answer to your other question - I suppose I have been courting them since last December when I did a trial karaoke night.
JimCasey : DO you mind if I ask how much you are getting for the 7 week trial?
Bill_Hollick : Actually it was - here are the dates I can do it - here's how much i want.
Bill_Hollick : Don't mind at all - 7 two hour shows - 7 to 9 PM - teach and play music for open dance - $$50 per session. $350 total.
JimCasey : Thats the way to do biz! If it were only always that simple
Bill_Hollick : I bring the music and play through the house system.

firstclassdj : Nope. Not here.
firstclassdj : We had a 60's themed party on Sat night... 90% of the guests were French.
JimCasey : On mhy website I point out to people I have a limited country collection and that if they want a LOT of country msuic, I refer them to a country music DJ
Bill_Hollick : I explain that I don't play Rock and I won't play Rap. I don't usually have to refuse anything after that. Either they want Country or they don't.
firstclassdj : that's how we operate.. if we're not qualified, we pass the business onto someone more suitable.
firstclassdj : We have plenty of current Rap.
Bill_Hollick : Me too. I have a couple of local GPDJs who I refer them to.

firstclassdj : if we happen to have a request for a country-centric event, we'll send them your way, Bill.
Bill_Hollick : Actually it's the only way to do an honest business I think it pays in the end.

firstclassdj : nope. no regular weeklies or monthly just yet.

firstclassdj : We would ideally like to do the larger events.. > 300 people... As soon as we're done with our audio build-out we'll be 8 speakers/7,000w strong.

JimCasey : I wonder though...are you overdoing it with 7000watts in this area?
firstclassdj : We usually just go out with 1,500 - 2 speakers.
JimCasey : I go out with 450 2 speakers
firstclassdj : but we're equipped for a couple of larger venues we play... double-sized gyms and the like... So we add 2 subs, pushing up to 2,500w.

KeithAlan : is closer to NYC than Atlantic City is
djrandy : Las Vegas and AC are pretty equal now in terms of attendees. AC has a better showroom, Las Vegas has better seminars, overall. Plenty of exceptions.
