Default Laptop or Desktop?

Just curious what type of computer our members are using. Do you prefer a laptop or desktop?

I use a 1.2GhZ laptop with the Creative USB Sound Card Extigy and a 120Gig USB external hard drive. I've been using this setup for the last 6 months without any problems. Laptop setup takes about 2 minutes and it all fits in a laptop carry bag.

Would seem to me that a desktop is bigger, but would require more trips to bring the equipment into a gig and also takes up more room on the table.

What do you think?

I use a desktop and like you said, it takes up too much room! We are looking into getting a laptop this spring! Definatly would go w/ a laptop. We have our amp set up to w/ a case around it specially built w/ a drawer for the keyboard/mouse so its not too bad on table room but its still bulky to take along!

I use both, but mainly use a desktop because I run a dualhead video card, lots of fans, and 3 sound cards, along with 2 big hard drives.

Neither, I use a rackmount system. It better suits my needs than either of the others. Both have too many compromises for my preferences.

Oh yea, the wonderful rackmount. I forgot all about the rackmount when I posted the initial question. I've seen some beautiful rack mount systems and I would agree with First Class and Drax.

Rackmount is definately the way to go.

Been using a notebook for 3 years. When it dies or becomes too limiting, I'll build a rackmount.
