DJ Source Online Has Been Sold

It's true! DJ Source Online has been sold with the new ownership moving in later this week. You will hear more about the new ownership and direction of the site, but I will say this is a great day for the industry and for you, the faithful DJ Source Online user.

You will finally have ownership that is able to promote the site properly, meet and greet at the various DJ conventions across the country, and they will bring you many new features over the next few months.

After going through February with the site and contemplating the new directory for Djs, I suddenly realized I had lost my will to do this on a daily basis. It wasn't fun anymore fo me. The politics had crept in (as evidenced by the MB announcement) and that is not what I intended this site to do.

It has been a hell of a run. I have pissed people off here and there only because I care to get the truth out about what is happening in our industry. I think you deserve to know what is happening and I was privileged enough to let you know some of those happenings.

So today, you have a new direction...a new lease on life. I will be lurking a lot more now than I have in the past five years. It's time for fresh voices with fresh ideas.

I want to say a special Thank you to everyone of you who sent me emails of support urging me to keep the site open. It has been an honor and a privilege to be there growing with you for almost five years when I started at a Moderator. We went through the dark days of DJTV Online together and we can look back and laugh.

Thank you most of all to all of the people I have met and talked with solely because of my involvement with this site. I am truly humbled to think of the quality of business professionals and awesome Disc Jockey Entertainers I have been able to meet since 2001. That does include those I have alienated in one way or another. They have all contributed to my position in life as a Full-Time Mobile Disc Jockey Entertainer.

I seriously doubt it was a"financial windfall' for Jim.

This board needed something to happen. There was no posts here for days, and a lot of apathy from members as well which also contributed to the lack of activity.

Running a forum is a full time job. One that pays diddly...but can reward the owner of the forum with the respect of peers (look at Sid & Ryan or even Glenn).

Another quick thought here....

I am kinda perplexed though....why announce the sale of the board, and not say who bought it?

A joint announcement between yourself and the new owner would have been MUCH more professional. As it is now, it looks a tiny bit tacky...."I sold it but not teling who bought it....." kinda makes one wonder why the secrecy....is there something you are hiding or afraid of....or a announcement that was not properly thought out??

A joint announcement (by both yourself and the new owner) would have been MUCH better and allow the new owner a chance to proclaim the direction they are taking the site etc.

Jim, good luck in the future. Sad to learn that you have sold out and as a result have taken a number of the DJSO membership by surprise and dismay.

I "ditto" what Glen Milar has said. Yes, it would have made a much smoother transition for the NEW owner had you BOTH announced the sale together.

Nevertheless, keep in touch. I'll check in with you from time-to-time and I hope you will do the same. Your friend and associate...Art.

Alright...

A quick explanation.

I intended the sale to be my last post (but I feel I need to explain)

I am going to be here to help with the transition, do the behind the scenes work until the new owner decides her or she is all set.

I have had my time online. I think people are quite tired of me and in some way I am tired of people.

Running this board is a full-time job that I simply didn't have anymore time for. I need to get my own business back to where I believe it needs to be. It has been flat for about 18 months now and that is unacceptable to me. I took a harsh look at what was making me money and what wasn't. DJSO was #1 for not making money.

The reason we did not make a joint announcement is becuase I wanted the new owner to have the spotlight to himself (how much of a spotlight could it be with less than 300 members, really?)

He (or she) will do a terrific job and i need not be overshadowing in anyway.

So please...stop with the not a good businessperson business or that I am abandoning you. I am not abandoning anyone, My phone is alwasy open to anyone at 207-615-3563.

Trust me, there are much better knowledgable industry professionals than I that are about to take over.

You will be much better for that.
