Mobile Beat Sold to Ryan Burger

Most people know by now that Mobile Beat Magazine has been for sale for awhile...

There are several groups interested including those led by Sid Vanderpool, Ryan Burger, and apparently event both ADJA and NAME have made offers...

What would it mean if it is true?

The first few posts after this talk about the rumor that Ryan Burger was the buyer, but since has been retracted,.

I do find this development a bit troubling, given the fact that Mr. Burger won't invest in the proper hardware and software necessary to keep his Internet businesses up and running 24/7. What would happen to Mobile Beat? Would it become Mobile Beat On The Cheap?

Word has come back that there are still people competing for the right to buy Mobile Beat so I am changing the title of the thread and the opening post...

I wouldn't be shocked if it were true, but for now, the changes will occur

I would maintain a neutral opinion on it. Completely neutral opinion on it and I have a let's just wait and see attitude on it.

Jim, I know these boards ain't "journalism" ... but I'm a little surprised you would send an email to all the members here indulging in such rumor mongering. A question mark doesn't make it any less sensational, nor does deleting the post after a special notice was emailed to everyone.

What "indications" are those? Your buddies speculating after a few beers? C'mon Jim...you're better than that!

Say what you want about Ryan, but he has been in business for many years. He's leveraged several strategic alliances (most notably Mobile Beat) to further his internet enterprise. Has he had some problems over the years? Certainly. But he has built a critical mass of participating DJ's on his chat board and been the springboard for other enterprises as well.

Would Ryan Burger buying Mobile Beat be the worst thing that could happen? I don't think so. He is intimately familiar with the business and well-known in the community. Would you rather have someone like VNU Business Media come in and publish MB along side their stable of IT and Business Mags as just another niche market?

Not me.
