...I have decided to...

<span style="font-size:12pt;line-height:100%">JOIN THE ADJA</span>

This Association is going in the right direction and that is where I want to take my business.

I am impressed with the website as well (a few minor problems with uploading my log I am sure will be fixed soon)

I joined a couple of years ago after Drax and Peter Merry blitzed Atlanta. I liked what they had to say and I had already quit the Georgia Mobile DJ Association because of personality conflicts and unchecked egos.

Our chapter hasn't grown since it was formed, and word has it that the GMDJA may have to merge with the GADJA to make the GADJA relevant and for us to be able to fund the things we'd like to do. So I may be right back at Square One.

Jim,

It was great speaking with you on the phone and the site is much better....

Great job in joining the ADJA - Drax and team are headed in the right direction and after my phone calls with some companies associated in the Music Industry they speak HIGHLY of their communication and professionalism as well.

I’ll see you soon….

I like NAME. I know a few great folks who belong to NAME and adja. If I make more $$$ in 06, I'll consider dual membership. I think all dj's should belong to a national, even if it's for the insurance.

I am at a crossroads currently. I had dual membership years ago, but was unhappy with the ADJA and the way it was being run (before new management) so I dropped that one and stayed with NAME. Now, I am indifferent towards NAME (not unhappy, but I feel I could take it or leave it).

To be fair, you do get out of these associations what you put into them and I'll readily admit I've been more of a casual observer - happy to be a member, but not very involved.

I do, however, feel strongly that there should be support of national associations, and that there is strength in numbers. I can see through the information that has been disseminated that ADJA has really come around since what I knew of them 5-7 years ago.

I'm now considering whether or not I should renew with NAME, join ADJA, or go back to dual membership for a year, see which one I'm happier with in 2006, and then stick with that one going forward.

Not sure what to do, but I need to make a decision sometime soon.

I don't belong to ADJA. However, it was Mobile Beat that got me interested in becoming a DJ in the first place. There was so much information in the early publications. I let my subscription expire absent mindedly. As I recall, it was a good help in zeroing in on equipment, lighting, music standings, "How To" educational articles, etc. I looked forward at the end of the year for the Mobile Beat Top 200 list to appear. There were many useful articles regarding Weddings, Bar/Bat Mitzva, Contracts, and so forth. I used the yearly lists to make sure I had the music that was being played across the U.S. That's how my music library became what it is today. However, I had tons of "oldies" (50's & 60's) at that time. It is was the Top 200 List that made my library grow and grow.

Now, I'll use it for the next DJ generation...Digital DJ.
