Folks, it's race weekend in Dover, Delaware. If you follow NASCAR you'll know what I mean.
Usually we have the roads clogged with motorhomes and buses. The Route 13 corridor is usually a tent city by now.
Well, here it is Thursday before race weekend... and there's nary a motorhome to be seen on the roads around here. To be sure, there are several parked in the lots behind the track but it's nothing close to what one would normally see. Ordinary race weekends mean clogged streets in Dover. It ain't there this time.
There are a few vendors and indie ticket sellers set up. The marquee at Dover Downs says that race tickets are still available.
We're guessing the high cost of fuel has kept many race fans away.
