Two potentailly catastophic storms within 3 1/2 weeks of each other.

We know of at least $200 billion in losses from Katrina and how gas shot up to $3 a gallon (except Atlanta it was $5.87)

Atlanta's gas prices may become the norm if the analysts are correct about the refineries being destroyed along the Texas coast.

How will you account for a possible doubling of gas prices?

Will Christmas parties start getting cancelled?

How will our economy as a whole handle this?

Whoa, Jim! Look at http://www.atlantagasprices.com/. In the past 24 hours, the lowest price has been $2.37, and the highest has been $3.03, with the average being, I'm guessing, around the $2.60 mark.

Greets, Jim.

Only one show so far will be affected by higher fuel costs. That show is an annual Halloween dance in Virginia, a 200 mile trip one-way. We figure that our local bookings will absorb the unanticipated cost of travel to the gig in Virginia.

We missed the TOTM street festival gig in VA this year. It has been a tradition for us to travel back home to do this show but this year saw a change. The sponsors decided to lease the venue we normally use to the local Historical Society. It's just as well... the gas prices shot to the moon around Labor Day and we'd have lost money had we done it this year.

Our concerns for the Halloween show: it's at a campground we've been working for over 12 years. You know how campers are -- they like their big motorhomes. I am concerned about attendance this year due to the cost of fuel. We'll get paid and do the show, same as always. I am just concerned about campground attendance this year. We usually have a packed house but I'm gonna guess it will be down from previous shows.

We will see.

Jim : Using an ala carte price structure, all prices for electives have been raised. Overtime was $85/half hour, it's now $200/hour minimum with no more 30 minute options. Digitally recording of ceremonies, intros, toasts, etc have all gone up $100. Second and third system prices have increased $100 each.

The base price for the base service remains status quo. It sends the message I want by holding the base price line yet higher fuel price costs will be off-set and a little bit more for me, too.

I am anticipating a nationwide recession

They are quoting gas prices in Fla as $5 per gallon by next week. Plywood is already doubled in price, concrete and other building supplies will soon follow. Food prices will be going up, along with electric power, fuel oil for the upcoming winter, and homeowners insurance.

But all is well. I have been informed by sources that the economy is doing great, and we should all have a stellar holiday season.

I am just being overly pessimistic and am running around henny-penny.
