When the tsunami hit, the United States of America was among the first on the scene to render assisstance. Whenever a disaster hits anywhere in the world we go and help.
Now that a major disaster (outside of 911) has hit us, where are the other countries? Have they offered to help?
Some would say that this should serve as a lesson for the future and that we should let someone else get involved. But, we are a Christian-Jeudeo nation and we do the right thing.
Hmmm, where are the Arabs and their Islam. Oh yeah, jacking up the oil prices.

Germany and Japan, from what I've read/heard. Any wonder that the almighty U.N. has been notoriously silent thus far?

Prices went insane today here in Maine.
The Cumberland Farms chain decided to jack the price to $3.17 for Regular Gas. The Big Apple Chains down the street were at $2.77, 40 cents lower just 400 feet away!
BTW, the WHOLESALE price for gas today is $2.84 as of 1:35pm Eastern...up .37 cents in ONE DAY!
It was at $2.11 before the Hurricane on Monday

Ever notice how quickly gas prices go up, but how excruciatingly slowly they come back down?

I just wanted to chime in that Canada is sending rescue personnel, medical supplies as well as "whatever other supplies that the US Government requests" to quote our Deputy Prime Minister Anne McLellan.
We have been doing our part since Monday....we just do it as Canadians do. Quietly and without being asked.
Oh yes. Canadians have been donating to the Canadian Red Cross specifically for Katrina victims, as well as to the Salvation Army in levels rivaling those of the tsunami donations.
What more can we do??

More proof positive that generalizations are dangerous and hurtful.
Thank you, all of Canada (even Quebec)!
