Well, that wasn't Jam who proposed the question, but since a little time has gone by since I originally asked, here are the answers:

Jon Lord and Ian Paice got together with Tony Ashton in 1976 for the excellent but short-lived Paice Ashton Lord project. Their only released album was 1977's Malice in Wonderland

My rock/jam band used to play "Silas and Jerome" off of that LP. It was a fun song to play!
