You may be opening a big can of worms on this one. See the recent DJ Gold topic.

I don't mind opening the can of worms.

He sent our MDJN members an email looking for a Dj for a wedding....

...for THIS SATURDAY then got pissed when he didn't hear the quotes he wanted.

-----------------------------------------------------------------
Series of back and forth emails
-----------------------------------------------------------------

MDJNDJ: "Thanks for checking with us but $400 won't work with us."

Colangelo: "You mean you want more money for 2.5 hours work and would not consider it even if you had no event that day..some of us are in it for the love of it and the money and others are just in it for money...."

MDJNDJ: "Sorry, $400 won't cut it with us"

Colangelo: "For 2 hours work that $800 for four hours -
ah well you stay at home then"

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

So we are supposed to bow down and kiss this guys feet for throwing a last minute wedding at us...despite the fact he might have had months to plan this?

BTW, the price the DJ wanted was $750 which is about average in our Network. It seems he tries to browbeat you to his price.

I just find him unprofessional.

Since we have been talking about Pinnacle recently, has anyone ever had a problem receiving payment?

Absolutely.

I would think about doing a last-minute wedding for $400 on a day that was open, if it doesn't require travel or any extras, but I would CERTAINLY require payment in full at least 24 hours prior to showing up.

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE</div><div class='quotemain'>for 2.5 hours work
He obviously hasn't read the prevailing thoughts about this among DJs. I still offer the same price for weddings, whether they are 2 hours or 8 hours. And there's no such thing as a two hour gig. It takes two hours just to set up and break down!

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE</div><div class='quotemain'>some of us are in it for the love of it and the money and others are just in it for money
I know which category Kevin falls under.

When will so-called professional DJ's learn that it's not the amount of time spent on the gig, it's the fact that this ties up the day, and may end up being the only gig that weekend.

I'd like to see these booking agents get by on a couple hundred dollars a week in gross pay.

Few things burn me more than people IN THE INDUSTRY who undermine what we do by not giving us the full credit for our time and abilities.

The sad thing is that he may end up finding someone who will do this wedding for that price, and the person doing it may think he is making Trump money in the process!

From Kevin with Love...

"in future refrain from starting posts about me - and refrain from spreading idle gossip and false misleading remarks - you have NO CLUE what we do and I am not interested in your waffling words - you have sunk low in my estimation after posting all that crap:

Do me a favor - talk about something positive instead of starting DJ bashing threads"

Nobody tells me what to do...period

For a known bottom feeder to say that anyone has "sunk low"...that's a good one!

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE</div><div class='quotemain'>starting DJ bashing threads
Asking if "anyone dealt with him" is bashing?

Is there something he doesn't want DJs to know?
