Folks,
For those of you who buy and sell DJ- or SR-related equipment on eBay: Please be wary of contacts from eBay members who ask to buy your item outright without bidding.
The messages appear to be of generic scam variety -- misspelled words and poor grammar. We have received a few of these "offers" to pay large sums if we end an auction early. There is the usual "I need this as there is a scarcity" and "I have buyers willing to pay $XXX.XX...", often an amount that is several times higher than the current bid.
My response to the sender: "There is no buy it now option on this item. If you would like to purchase this item, please place a reserve bid in the amount you feel it is worth to you."
Then came a response with the astronomically high offer. I didn't respond to that message. Ask me to do something illegal -- I don't respond. The member didn't place a bid on the item.
I am posting this not to insult the collective intelligence of our eBay members but rather to let you know that these scammers are out there. If someone writes and asks you to break the rules, don't do it. It isn't worth the trouble.
I hope it helps.
