Cheers, my old friend.
I'm gonna tread lighty here because I know the folks behind the curtain rather well. I've had the pleasure of meeting with these folks over a bottle of beer. People in this industry know me. They tolerate me at times but they know me. I can get away with calling 'em SOBs. I just have to word it right.
Sid allows his mods some elbow room. Mods have the ability to ban or restrict members. That being said, sponsors pay to keep these sites online. It's not an easy balance, believe me. Post counts versus vendor accounts, eh?
One thing I can say from experience -- and I've been slumming on these forums since 1998: most advertisers have no issues with factual topics being discussed about their products or services, "factual" being the key word. With that said, the vendor's facts and yours may differ.
No one has to kowtow to a particular brand or sponsor. I have been promoting Carvin's DCM amps on Sid's forum for years and Carvin is not a paid sponsor. Generally speaking, if you have an issue with a product or service take it up with customer service. Don't get caught up in the politics on the public bbs forums.
Just some thoughts...
