Just curious. How does all this affect your Professional DJ business? I enjoy visiting here and chatting with some fine fellows. I've even join another chat which I've gained some great information. But, and please don't take offense to this, no one here or on any other board could possible affect my business.

I've made a few friends and have gotten out of these boards a wealth of information. Those that take someone elses opinions to heart from a chat board need to step back and take a breath. Life is not that hard.

Just my opinion, nobody asked.

Ron,

I agree with you, that is why it doesn't bother me to banned from DJ Chat.

I just think what is funny is the reason I was banned, I think what is sad is that they wouldn't even respond as to why I was being banned.

Cheers, Jim.

Sid is in the web hosting business. He and the missus run a DJ business as well.

They're decent folks when you meet them.

While it's true that I do not necessarily agree with the politics behind the curtain, I do agree that the folks whose login names appear on DJ Chat's roster of mods represent good, decent folks for the most part.

Yes, there have been tug-of-war battles. It hurts me to see and read of this in an industry where we are all in the same business.

Who bans whom? Who un-bans whom? I don't know and I don't care. If I was interested I could ask my sources... but I honestly don't care about the goings-on behind the curtain.

For my part, I would like to see the renegades banned from the DJ Chat Gear forum. This is one of my current projects. The gear forum was enjoyable before the inmates were allowed to run the jail.

The renegades were the reason Steve left. They beat the hell outta Steve and Steve fought back. Steve's use of the "P" word was a lame excuse to remove his membership status.

Although I do not contribute to DJ Chat as often as I used to in the old days I still carry some weight. I have kept in touch with the mods and reported inappropriate comments on the Gear forum. Hopefully, things will improve over time.

I hope it helps.

That was in jest Wolfie...

I have never met the man, but just from my dealings with him he deserves a good bottom kicking (attitude adjustment)

Has anyone ever seen the video " Puppetry of the penisl". It's a stage show from Australia with two guys naked on stage doing the ancient art of genital origami. It is funny as hell. Here is a review, check it out. It makes a great gift for the women in your life. I sat and watched it with my wife, I never laughed so hard.

Just trying to lighten up a bit.

Kudos to Jim

One of the problems with said dj message boards is the greed and politics involved sometimes the true purpose is lost or forgotten. I think wolfy nailed it pretty good in his last point. Sometimes a little zooming out or seeing past you is in order to get the big picture. Funny thing is some in authority made it a personal agenda to "get" this person kick out shut up etc. Which we all know can open a virtual can of worms. It also brings these people down to a real professional third grade level. My house my rules if you will.

Honestly it’s been a dream of mine for a long time to crave out my own little corner of the www when I can express myself with out fears of repression or censor. I have very strong view on censorship as many of you know. I find it funny that most boards are censored who are we really protecting in that respect anyway? Which could bring us back to the point of personal agendas interfering with information sharing in general, but that’s a whole other thread.

Frustrated? Not the word I'd used to describe this situation. Repressed is the better choice or shall I say censored, it’s the same idea. Someone telling me you can't say that because company x is paying me this for advertising. So you can't talk about company y because they aren't paying. As stupid as that may sound that's exactly what happened. There is a fine line between protecting and interest and censorship or is there?

Do I think it will affect my business? No and here is why. These boards are used by other pros or semi pros only. I think the chances of one of my clients surfing there is pretty slim. Besides they only get too see the final product anyhow why would they care? Being passionate and outspoken should be a part of every dj's persona. Taking it to the next level is totally up to us. I've seen it all. Personally I think that type of sharing is a little over kill and can lead to the watering down of the industry. That's the biggest reason I'm against all dvd's and seminars etc. Those people cry about the cheap dj's they indirectly created with their programs. Besides most of us are already doing these things if we are successful or considered to be successful by some unknown benchmark.

Personally, I've always called all bs and I will continue to do so. Those that think they may have won this chapter are sadly mistaken. As those would look for their next victim I'd caution them to look into their own shortcomings, which are numerous before forming their opinions of others.

And I'd like to congratulate Jason on his 100th post at DJSO, with the following message:

Apparently they are having fun at Matt's expense over at DJ Chat.
