I also think the industry is over saturated with conventions. True, only about 10% of ther nations DJs attend these conventions, but we can't afford to attend every convention that pops up. I would like to go to Niagra Falls, DJ Idea Sharing, Atlantic City, Las Vegas, and the WeDJ Cruise, but I can't afford it.
So I attend the convention which I think offers me the best bang for my buck, Las Vegas. I am seriously thinking of attending the computer DJ Summit here in October, only because it is close to home. The cruise is in Nov, a real tough month for me to take off a week.
My suggestions are to limit the number of national shows to one on each coast, spread out like the MB shows are doing. In Feb on the West Coast, in July on the East Coast.
Smaller regional shows might work, and might be better at picking up the DJs who don't/ won't/ can't attend the larger shows.
