I was a firm believer in doing this until about six months ago.

I have pulled them off completely...

Anyone else?

lol

I'm considering listing a flat hourly rate for my service like $300 per-hour or so for the service and it includes required sound system.

I have never posted my rates on my website and I doubt that I ever will. It's not becaue my rates are secret, it's because there are too many variables in the way I calculate my rates.

We never have and never will post pricing on our Website.

We view our website as a tool to enlighten / interest prospective clients as to what we have to offer and hopefully motivate them to call or email us.

Sure, a website can make the sale, but we want to talk with the prospective clients, ascertain their needs and sell them our services which fit their needs.

Pricing on the website gives the potential client a brief but factual sales presentation leaving you out of the loop.

I include my prices and plan to continue to do so. Three basic reasons:

a) I don't have time to field phone calls from pure price shoppers. (Hence the removal of my Yellow Pages listing after 10 years.)

b) I don't want clients to automatically assume I may be too expensive for them either (as in, "Wow, what a nice web site, I doubt I can afford this DJ")

c) I don't want clients to feel that I'm "measuring them up" before quoting a price.

I've NEVER posted prices, because:

1) My web site is simply "average" and looks unassuming so people know I'm going to be reasonably priced

2) My rates vary depending on the season. I don't want the birthday party or anniversary party client to know they're getting soaked on June 25 for $899 when I would have done the same party on Feb 26 for $699.
Its SUPPLY & DEMAND, BABY!!!

3) There are so many variables that go into a quote, it would be impossible to put up a rate sheet. Even during my busy months, I'll do a Monday in June for the same rate as a Saturday in February!
