OK, with all the controversy over the RCF drivers no longer used in Mackie speakers, I'm back to the drawing board.

I'm looking for a good reliable 10" powered speaker cabinet for ceremonies and small rooms (combined with a powered B-52 subwoofer).

now that JBL is getting some competition in the 10" powered speaker category, many dealers have lowered the price on the EON 10 G2.....I've found it for $449 (Abe's of Maine, DJ Mart) and $465 with free shipping (Parts Express)

To the best of my knowledge, the EON G2 series does not use Chinese made speaker components.

Here on the West Coast, the JBL name is regarded much more highly than Mackie.

So now I'm waffling between the Mini-Mackies and the EON 10 g2's....STAY TUNED!

To further muck up the works,
those boys at PEAVEY have come up with POWERED versions of the PR series. They come in 10", 12", and 15" versions, all powered with the same amp (??)
Peavey components are MADE IN USA.

I already own a pair of Peavey PR-15 cabinets (unpowered), and after I put an Electro-Voice woofer in to replace the anemic Peavey bass driver, they rock! (Of course the upgraded woofers essentially doubled the price of the cabinet from $159 to $320 apiece)

So right now I'm waffling between the Mackie SRM-350 ($499 from ESC), the JBL Eon 10 G2 ($449), and the Peavey PR-10P ($299 street price).

Comments anyone?

Can't help really.. only seen/heard larger FBT and Mackie series.. though since you have Peavey style cabs already, you could stick with Peavey to give a more uniformed look to the rig.

But thats simply based on cosmetics.

DJMC, I have heard that RCF will be again selling in the USA come January 2005, possibly. If so, then I will be very, very happy because my system is RCF mains and subs that are all powered. I surely hope they come back. I have a pair of the "original" mackie 1530's with RCF components. (lucky me )

I am seriously looking at FBT powered gear as an addition to my RCF system. Mike Mahoney can tell you more about the FBT's. I have seen but not heard the FBT 900watt Powered subwoofer (15") wooden box and the plastic version (same 900 watt). I've been told that the wooden box has a much better sound. I'll have to hear for myself, however.

Suggest you look at the FBT MaxX 2A, 200+50 watt w/ 1" compression driver. weighing in at about 40 lbs. Check out www.fbt.it

My wish is for RCF to put out a 18" powered subwoofer! If FBT should put out an 18" subwoofer, I'd be giving it a thorough "look see".

Hope that helps. :tup

I've been using FBT's for a while now, and love them.

I love my 12 in. FBT 4a's! 35 lbs of pure happines! With a 300 watt JBL sub hidden under the table skirting, your guests will think you have magical powers!

If you absolutely need 10's check out the new Yamaha's. 200+50 each, thats 500 watts from two tiny 10 inch speakers, & very reasonably priced!

Keep us posted!
