Should we accept or do you like not having the ads?

The only ads that we would do are the banner ads at the top of the board.

As long as they don't misbehave. You know...
Spawn child windows. Take over the screen. Maximize the browser when minimized... You get the idea. But sure, you will need a revenue stream. Just keep it relevant and fresh and allow compteting vendors and it should be fine.

Advertising is the staple of a website's income. The money can pay for upgrades and get us some great deals along the way.

Actually though, I prefer ad free, but it wouldn't bother me too much. I would rather you have a donate button, which would keep it totally politics free, because we all know how advertisers can and do influence these types of boards, as they do in television and radio programming.

It's almost impossible to stay unbiased when somebody else is footing the bill...

I think advertizers are a good idea as long as they stay just that. They should not influence this board politically...much like the situation we had to deal with at the other site, Jim.

I have a few ideas for this....We will have to talk.

If you accept advertising $$ from anyone, then you have to set a policy that members can't have banners advertising their products for free in their signature lines or posts.

It just simply isn't fair that one group pays & another doesn't & gets the same value for free, simply by posting.

I say that you should use the ads to make the payments to run your site.
