Hey everyone...

Well after some conversation with staff and one of my weekly bar accounts, I have decided to get back into offerring Karaoke. I have been "out of the game" since 1998 and need some assistance.

Here's a few questions:

1.) I just bought a 76 disc set of Sweet Georgia Brown discs on EBay for a basic library. (I used to use SGB back in 1998, so I am comfortable with them!) Any suggestions as to what other lines of music is popular ?

2.) I know I am going to have to enhance this basic set with some more contemporary music. The only company I remember is Pop Hits Monthly. What other companies are popular or good to add to this set?

3.) Any suggestions for developing/maintaining my library for books ? Excel seems like an easy choice to me.

4.) Any other tips or suggestions ??

Thanks in advance...I look forward to the feedback.

I just got into Karaoke myself.

Bought the Foundation 1 and Foundation 2 sets from Sound Choice ($700 both sets thru pssl.com sale with free shipping). Two years ago, the sets would have cost $1300.

Got the JVC triple tray player for $170. 2 years ago same player cost $300.

this is the best time to get into Karaoke! I made a $150 upsell on a Thursday evening wedding reception.....

The Foundation librarys came with song lists pre-printed. All I have to do is go to Kinko's and print extra copies. I'm going to get some of them laminated so they stay nice looking for re-use.

I don't have a clue about contemporary music except the occasional Syber Sounds CD that I buy for daughter Allie (a great singer BTW).

Wow, I am giving advice to Rob Peters, Woohoo! I must be moving up in the world

Hey Rob!

This is what I have found...

Chartbusters 450 on Ebay as low as $165 per set. 4 sets, 1800 songs, $460.00
The sound choice sets are great too if you can find them at a good price, but I'd start with the Chartbuster 450's

The best disks for New Music are Star Disk

Hey Rob ,
Sorry to say, but SGB is one of the worst sets out there. They have some good tracks, but most are crap.

Foundations 1&2, Brick 1-5 all by Sound Choice are really good. Pop Hits Monthly is simply the best.

RSQ & JVC Players are a thing of the past. Call me for more info, I'll fill you in.

ciao, Sal :usd
