It was considered file sharing and was removed from the board...

Thats ok, but how would one go about getting an opinion on work such as this.

Should I find a way to stream it?

Would that be OK?

Yes streaming it via one of the online stations would be fine.

The general consensus is when the DJ creates a BLEND of two different works, the piece becomes an original work.

Don't know why that would be considered "illegal file sharing"

If a DJ used XYZ artists copywritten material to create a mix it does not make its entirety original work. If a DJ were to create a mix CD using others original works in part or entirety they would still owe license fees on the use.

In the thread in question a link was available to not listen, but download, and an individual did download it and reported they had used the mix during an actual gig… This is a clear case of file sharing.

I own copies of Tipsy and We Will Rock You (RPM, Queen CD).

There is no violation to download if I own the originals!!!

Furthermore, if I were to take my RPM radio edits, put a microphone to my azz and record my rhythmic butt farts, and put them on each end of the song to make them more danceable, what's the problem?

Its the same when I download DJ Jynxx or OttaCee's remixes, which are extended versions of those songs with extra beats at the beginning and end to make them more conducive to mixing.....

I already own the damn songs......I'm just getting a backup copy with some modifications!

You do “not” own the songs.

You made a purchase of a product to listen and enjoy.. You obtained “NO” rights in the use of your purchase outside the described usage.

It is questionable legally if you have any rights of download other than purchasing said downloads.

I’m sure somewhere in this world you would find someone who would enjoy your rhythmic farts, however, if the talent of such smelly performances are not enough to move your crowds without the addition of others works you are not creating an original work. You are confusing “live” listening performances with “reordered” distribution.. If during a live performance, you dropped your pants, placed the microphone near your azz and proceeded to create those rhythmic farts, mixing in a variety of tracks for this smell-o-mix you are not in violation – however, if you record this mix and proceeded to sell or distribute you are breaking copyright laws.. (phone the RIAA or Henry Fox agency if you don’t believe me).

We are but individuals whom utilize others talent to financially capitalize..

Matt...it is very simple...

You nor I, nor anyone else is allowed to in whole, or in part, sell or distribute (even if it's FREE), or file share ANY...ANY...ANY...ANY copyrighted material. Remixes are portions of copyrighted material...period.

As for the Rythmic Farts (ewwww...where do you guys come up with this stuff)...you may have a platinum record idea there! LOL
