Which magazine do you read or prefer over the other?
Mobile beat or DJ Times?
Have you ever been to any of the Mobile Beat or DJ Times conventions?
What do you think of them. Which one is the best?

I have attended both and enjoyed them. Both are unique and have benefits over each other... A decision would have to be based on what you consider a deciding factor... Is “best” based on number of attendees? Amount of vendors? Industry support? Quality of networking? Professionalism of seminars?

With the industry so political you will find the favorable mentality of some camps based on which show gives them free reign or adheres to a specific tolerance.

I suspect, with a recent event you were associated; you might catch the attention of an established program which I would recommend a detailed investigation and research of any offers. I’ve seen way to much guilt by association to understand the importance of being impartial.

I will say neither...

I have never subscribed to either magazine.

I haven;t attended enough DJ conventions to choose one or the other. Been to MB Chicago...never to DJ Times

After NAME's great conference last week, I;m nit sure I have the disire to go.

Also, got the feeling that WeDJs cruise convention may steal the spotlight as well. That's shaping up to be a fanatstic learning opportunity as well as bein in a fun atmosphere.

I subscribe to neither one.

Alot of the stuff in DJ Times is useless information (to me anyway)
the charts are a JOKE....record pool crap!

MB........I was pissed they had CaCa Slide at #3 song in 2002....I never played it even once. But they ended up right about the Cha-Cha slide..... hadn't played the song for 3 years........then we played it 6x in 2003. This year we've already played the song 5x and that was as of Sat, May 1.... I'm guestimating 20+ plays in 2004. #3 song? Still not by a longshot, but it might show up in my top 100 list for 2004.

I prefer MB, and I must say, here in NY I've played the cha cha slide at about 75% of the events this year, at least.

I subscribe (and contribute) to both. If you pick up one tiny bit of info or maybe an edge in my business, then it's worth the subscription cost.
I think Mobile Beat leans more towards Mobiles while DJ Times seems to cover Clubs.

Conventions are about equal. I go for the networking.

I get both, but I like MB better because it seems less commercialized, or at least last month was chock full of articles.
Best of all it fits on the toilet tank better than DJT.

For articles, the new mag DJ Entertainer has both of them beat, imo.

djdonny,

I must disagree with you... That publication has way too much wasted space. Way over sized graphics to cover for lack of content and margins way too large to make articles cover more real estate tan needed, enabling them to have more pages. Not to mention fictitious numbers.

Mobile Beat and DJ Times are much sounder in direction and industry focus… Are they perfect? No. But as a vendor I would place more credibility in the figures and numbers of Mobile Beat and DJ Times that a periodical that’s cutting way too many corners at the expense of belittling others.
