WOW! Did I Get Beat Up on Taxes This Year

Well, April 15th is fast approaching and for the first time I am letting an accountant handle my taxes. Last year I received a $2000 refund from the Feds and about $700 from the state.

This year, I will receive less than $250 from both the Feds and the State.

Where are MY tax breaks GWB????

Add to that I will pay approximately $1000 to my accountant, I lost big!

UGH

Although total reveune was up about 60%...I guess I cant complain

Anyone else having tax sticker shock?

What the heck did the accountant do for 1000?!?!?

We had our personal and business taxes done for a couple hundred dollars.

Actually I should explain further...

My books were about as disorganized as they could be. I had not done a single bit of paperwork for 2003, for it was kind of like "Saving Jim Casey"

It took many hours and many meetings to get the required paperwork

I was going to ask the same question. My accountant cost me $175, cause I did 99% of the figuring, and today I got back $2400.

Just looking at this post regarding taxes makes my eyes hurt. My taxes will be so complicated this year.... so complicated that I can't finish that sentence.

Well...one thing to understand is that he did ALL of my bookkeeping for the year too.

I had an incredible mess on my hands and he literally saved my skin.

The one thign he told me today is that the more successful you become as a sole propietor, the less of a refund to expect.

I was lucky my wife's tax witholding sustained us for this year.
