I went round and round with this gentleman about two years ago, got a scathing PM because I slammed his site on a public chat board.
If you are a potential client and you type in ANYWHERE USA, you expect to find a DJ in this case within a reasonable distance of that ANYWHERE USA location. AM I correct? That was my beef with him as I knew DJ's from NJ were not gonna come to this part of PA to DJ a wedding unless it was major bucks.
If I'm in St. Louis, looking for a DJ, I don't want to weed through supposed 'NATIONAL' advertisers from NY and NJ (e.g.). Or, do you think someone from Ohio would drive to St Louis to perform at an event. Perhaps, but not for 400 dollars (again, e.g.)
I have found from ALL of the lead sites available, I only booked ONE job from one of them (out of hundreds of responses back to clients on all the boards)
I firmly believe in this day and age, if you have a well designed website for your own DJ business, use some sort of availability checker on the site, you don't need to deal with these outside sites.
