You know that math rule that dividing by zero is impossible?

Well, last night I could divide the amount of money I made ($150) by the amount of people I played for (0).

ZERO

NADA

NONE

Not a misprint.

This was the second time I had played at this new bar in my area. It is a two-level bar with dancing on the top floor, a tavern with pool and TV below. Last week was Ok with about 20 people all night. Last night, I arrived at 8:40, started by 9:00. Other than the two management members, there were ZERO people upstairs until I was told I could pack up at 12:15.

Absolutely amazing. I have never seen anything like it. Hope it never happens again.

My next time scheduled there is February 20th.

Wow! How is it that a new club could have zero attendence? What are they doing wrong?
Even clubs that have no redeeming value to draw people in will draw people when the club is newly opened. Everyone always wants to check out the new club. They may or may not ever go back depending on what they find.
If it was your club, what would you change or not have done in the first place?

Jim,

Where is the club?

Pauline and I have a weekend getaway in Portland scheduled for mid March.

We'll drop in so you'll have a number you can divide by.

If you work there again and there is no one in the place I would be sure to locate the fire exit. Sounds like the making of a stick job to me.

LOL Johnny...
Nahh....it's in Naples, Maine in the heart of the Sebago Lakes Region. This is a place that had a bad rep for "riff-raff" before and is now in heavy competition with the place down the road.

They also did something rather strange. They would cut off people after three drinks. They have since rescinded that, but are still recovering.

And, the club is on the major snowmobile trail in the area and they depend on the snowmobilers. Well, we haven;t had significant snowfall since December 15th. We had only 2.8" in January and it was a record dry and cold month.

We'll see what happens!

Jim,

I mixed from 7PM to 2AM Wednesday, 8PM - 2AM Thursday, 8PM - 2AM Friday and 7PM - 2AM today Saturday - all 80's all the time... I'm tired as hell to say the least.. We have not had a day with "0" thank God but a couple days I thought we could until the crowd rolled in...

Now as the club is supposed to be open on Sundays if it were open tomorrow being the SuperBowl we would have zero as well seeing how we don't have televisions. We are closed so I will have zero tomorrow as well..
