What type of Techno?

some People rake a load of genres and put it all under techno.. so I'll list a few types and see what you think.

Trance
Eurotrance
House
Hard House
Hard Trance
Happy Hardcore
technopop (more danceable pop tunes)

Or if you could give me one example tune which you are aiming for, then I can list as many as you need.

He's probably just referring to popular dance music.

Your area may vary but around here, the more popular dance music (or techno as they so inappropriately call it) - These are all pretty recognizable by most people.

Alice Deejay - Better Off Alone
Sonique - Feels So Good
Amber - Sexual
Darude - Sandstorm
Kernkraft - Zombie Nation
Venga Boys - We Like To Party

Some newer stuff that falls into that category:

Lasgo - Something, Alone
Ian Van Dahl - Castles In the Sky, Will I?
iio - Rapture
DJ Sammy - Heaven
Daniel Beddingfield - Gotta Get Thru This
4 Strings - Take Me Away
Widelife - I Don't Want You
Who Da Funk - Shiny Disco Balls
DJ Encore - Walking In The Sky, I See Right Through You

There's loads more, but a few things from these lists should get ya going. We prefer to get the singles as they have all the different mixes etc, but you can scoop up most of this stuff on compilations.

Louie DeVito usually has the more popular dance tunes on his compilations, but you have account for the fact that most dance compilations are mixed.

Hope that helps,

- Sherry

Yeah, for me most of those are just pop and dance tunes, with only a couple falling close to the trance fence.

Thanks for the hints! We have a bride that mentioned liking Techno and I do have Sandstorm of which she mentioned was a good one. We have Venga Boys - We Like To Party and DJ Sammy - Heaven. I thought that I might use some Techno for introducing them into the reception hall. Anythoughts on that?

Again thanks

Those are good songs for mainstream (club) techno-ish songs. Anything other than that the idea of techno, as mentioned above opens lots of doors. I did "Heaven" many of times for the bride party entrance. I use the radio version for the part of the song where she talks then I patched in the extended club version intro the my introductions.

"Nobody Listens To Techno" (Base Attack)
"E" (Drunkenmunkey)
"Cleaning Out My Closet" (KlubJumperz remix) (Eminem)

these three trax get the best response of all the techno tunes in recent years (with the exception of "Sandstorm" which is a perennial)
