Stay far away from a company called "Medallion Direct" currently out of Grand Prarie Texas.

Kyle Brueggemeyer is the person I have contact with there.

Back in December, I did an 8 hour outdoor corporate event for this company at a car dealership in Parsonsfield, Maine called Walker Chevrolet.

Medallion specializes in "slasher sales" where a car in the lot is sold for as low as $77.00

Well, I did the event, and he did NOT bring a certified check (my first major mistake). In fact he didn't bring a check whatsoever. So, I had to drive an hour out of my way to his hotel to get one.

He finally coughs one up with a "tip" for a total of $535.00

I deposit it Christmas Eve and think nothing of it until January 2nd.

He calls my cell phone "warning" me that the check he gave me may bounce. It had not to this point.

Four days later, I receive a letter telling me it has bounced. It was called a "Not Our Item" which means

So, I tried contacting his business lines (which never answers) and his cell line, which answered until we tried today saying it had been disconnected.

So, right now as it stands, I am out $500 and have paid a price for a very valuable lesson. NEVER NEVER NEVER do a gig without being properly compensated (certified checks)

I will post a photo of his check and letter from the bank later.

Car dealers have a shady reputation already!

This will just reinforce everyone's perception....

Jim, never do anything without receiving at least a $200 deposit up front. I have found that as long as the deposit clears, there has never been a problem with collecting on the rest. If they're going to take someone, they'll choose one with no up-front costs.

In Florida it's a crime to bounce a check... Contact your local Distric Attorneys office for advice.

The one time I had a client bounce a check, I went to the district justice in the jurisdiction where the check was written and filed charges. Luckily, it was only 35 miles away.

Regardless if the check was written right in Maine in front of you on an out of state check, if the con artist who signed it can't be found, could he still be prosecuted??
I'd try just in case.

Or, better yet, see if the dealership will compensate you. They know you were there and I'm sure did an outstanding job. Just show them what happened with the bounced check from the other guy.

Hey John, welcome!

The dealership is aware of what happened and they are not responsible. They have already paid this guy his money.

Since the check was written in Maine, it has to be pursued in Maine. We already asked Texas authorities. They did say if I can get an arrest warrant for him that they would (supposedly) arrest him.

I won't hold my breath, but I will be filing a charge today.

Hey JOHN!!!!

Wassssup...............

Good to see you here.

----------------------------

I recommend contacting the guy with a certified letter and inform him if he does not make the bounced check good you will turn it over to the prosecuting distric attorney and then send a copy of the arrest warrant to every car dealership in the state :cry

Update...
A few days ago I went to the Maine State Police barracks and formally filed a complaint.

I got a call yesterday from the state trooper saying that they had found several aliases and phone numebrs for this guy. He wasn;t specific, but I am expecting something to possibly break in the next week or so.

My warning stands...stay away from Slasher car dealers

The website for this phony is http://www.medalliondirect.com
