Default My First Mitzvah

It is always good to do something different in this business. On Saturday, I traveled 150 miles to Taunton, Massachusetts to participate as a DJ assistant to Rob Peters at a Bat Mitzvah.

It was an interesting day. First, the venue that it was in was rather shaky. It almost felt like an earthquake was occuring from time to time.

As for the event itself, started 1/2 hour earlier than expected, but Rob was ready.

He had me assisting him on the floor and another jock named Gary running the board.

12:30 Rob started with Game Show for the kids. WOW! Kids really do NOT pay attention in school anymore. Rob is the quintissential Game Show host however.

He did a couple of other games, like a Hula contest, Body Part Balloon relay, Huggy Bear and Wango Tango.

Dinner, then the candlelighting ceremony. Cendlelighting does seemingly take forever and I was disappointed that more people were not into it (it was quite upbeat)

Afterwards, the Hora Dance (only 12 participants out of 80 guests) more Game Show, Mummy Wrap (which was hysterical), the girl leading the Conga and Rob trying to coax me to helping him do the "Car Wash"!

Overall, a very tiring day but I savor the challenge. I think I will slowly incorporate Mitvahs into my repetoire. I would like to have seen more of the tradions, but different strokes for different folks.

I talked with the Father at the end about Rob saying he was an outstanding entertainer.

He said..."I expected nothing less"

Rob, your reputation is intact!

It was a pleasure being able to help out at what was a difficult and fast moving event!

Just "In tact" ??

The client was easy to work with, which is what makes any event easier.

Also having an experienced staff helps. Jim was a great associate to work with.

Now if we can just get him to teach line dances for HIS gigs !

Working with Rob several times myself, I do have to agree...He is the quintissential Game Show host, and a great entertainer.

Now we just have to work with Jim...Come on down!
