I noticed the same thing on the USODJA bbs awhile back. There were several "guests" viewing the forums one night. Since the USODJA forums are viewable by logged-in members only I decided to have a look to see who they were.
They were Google bots or spiders -- and as Ken Owens explained to me, they routinely visit threads for search engine placement.
