We have developed over time a very quick and easy setup. It is very custom but has held up the last 2 years with no problems at all.
Our DJ division uses Mackie 450s and 1500 subs. We loomed our XLR signal cable and a 16/3 SJO cable together every 2 ft. using large shrinkable rubber tubing. We then soldered the elusive IEC female power connector on the end of each 16/3 cord. So we have one loomed cable that easily rolls and unrolls to power one cabinet per side.
Then comes the fun part. Due to Mackie's INFINITE wisdom, as many of you know they did not put a loop thru power connector on either speaker. We made our own short 5 foot cable that has an IEC male input that Y's out to a Female IEC that plugs into the sub and the other 5' long part of the Y that has a female IEC that plugs into the top Mackie 450.
Total setup time for our system is basically 10 minutes. Tear down in 6.
Another thing that many people forget is the transportation part. We load all our gear on 6' long 4 wheel dolly plates that allow us to bring a complete sound and light system in one load.
Rick I do have a good solution for the DJ lighting too. I will have to spend some time taking pictures to better illustrate all of this.
