Good points Kevin,

I think the goal that is being sought after is high quality connections & they don't get made & re-made continually. For rackmount systems they are IDEAL.

I too have worked with fiber connectors, the sma flavor. Right now the audio engineering people are looking for a different body type, one not as small.

I don't suspect that fiber will ever take off for table top DJ's, not when the fiber will cost $100 for any modest length.

I do think that the other option, the one presently implemented is Digital I/O using Coax as well as the S/pdif protocol.

I think that this will be the first step.

But that is just my thought.
