Folks,

Don't let Steve fool ya. Shirl and I have had the pleasure of meeting with Steve and the missus. They are great hosts. Steve is a top-notch professional entertainer and knows this business better than most. Steve knows his markets better than most of the locals as well.

These online forums provide a locker room for DJs to swap stories, complaints and ideas. They're supposed to be fun. When posts become personal attacks it's not fun anymore and the professionals leave. That leaves the inmates to run the asylum. Harmony Central is a textbook example of this.

By our nature, we're opinionated and impolitic. That's what people expect from entertainers. Entertainment takes the audience away from the humdrum fare of ordinary life for a while.

When it's all said and done, that's what we are paid to do. That being said, we don't have to treat each other poorly.

I have witnessed countless personal vendettas on various bbs forums over the years. I have spent countless hours doing damage control because renegades insist on posting hate and discontent in forums they have no business posting in. I'd prefer to spend my time doing something more beneficial than mopping up after the renegades but I care about this industry.

Some people think that rules are for others. They honestly believe that rules do not apply to them. I respectfully disagree.

I do agree with Steve -- this crazy biz isn't for everyone. Many are called but few are chosen as the old saying goes. It comes from the heart.

I hope it helps.
