Last night, I had the pleasure to play at a 10th year Class Reunion. While there was very little dancing, everyone enjoyed the music. There were 2 girls and 2 guys who danced on the dance floor, but most everyone was shaking their thang either at their table or with the group they happened to be chatting with.
It took me back to the days when I used to play in a local club and would spin some of the hits of the day, which are now referred to as "old school."
I was having a grand old time with some of these "plucked from obscurity" tracks. Check out some of these blasts from the past I played last night:
Cantaloop by Us 3
Don’t Walk Away by Jade
Groove Thang by Zhane’
If I Had No Loot by Tony Toni Tone
Live & Learn by Joe Public
Oh Carolina by Shaggy
I Like To Move It by Reel 2 Reel
Informer by Snow
My Lovin’ (Never Gonna Get It) by En Vogue
Show Me Love by Robin S
Ditty by Paperboy
Here Comes The Hotstepper by Ini Kamoze
Lucas With The Lid Off by Lucas
Ain't Too Proud To Beg by TLC
Dazzey Duks by Duice
Do You Want Me by Salt & Pepa
I Got A Man by Positive K
Insane In The Brain by Cypress Hill
Jump by Kriss Kross
Rump Shaker by Wrecks ‘N Effect
Shoop by Salt & Pepa
Tap The Bottle by Y.B.T.
What’s My Name by Snoop Dogg
Whatta Man by Salt & Pepa
If by Janet Jackson
This is in addition to stuff that has proved to have some longer legs from that era such as Baby Got Back, Jump Around, and Whoomp There It Is.
Good gig, there was some nice eye candy, the food was tasty, and the load in and out was right up a ramp leading to the dance floor.
I have a 35th tonight, with a whole bunch of songs from the late 60's on tap.
Far out, man.
